Odoo can trace each product by Lot or Serial number and record its expiry date — essential for food and pharma to pull and block expired batches.
Path: Inventory ← Configuration ← Settings, then the product form
- Open Inventory ← Configuration ← Settings and under Traceability enable Lots & Serial Numbers, then Save.
- In the same section enable Expiration Dates.
- Go to Inventory ← Products ← Products and open the food product.
- In the Inventory tab, set Tracking to By Lots (food) or By Unique Serial Number.
- Tick Expiration Date and fill the Expiration / Alert / Removal Time (days).
- When receiving new stock, enter the Lot number and expiry date before you Validate.
- Use the Traceability button or the Lots/Serial Numbers report to locate any quantity.
